Ask a Korean! News: Say Hello to Everyone's Girlfriend, Our New Associate Editor

The ever-growing Ask a Korean! empire welcomes another associate editor to the fold. Yeochin is a lady of mid-20s who teaches English in Incheon, Korea. Finally, an expat representation at the Ask a Korean! family.

Yeochin hails from West Hollywood, California, and has the distinction of having previously worked with Gustavo Arellano, the Mexican himself. While the daily commute from Incheon to AAK!'s 115-story headquarter that towers over the Hudson River may be a little daunting, having three people at the AAK! headquarter means that finally, AAK! can host a spirited game of go stop every night.

(Picture from here.)

Yeochin's first post will be coming soon. Stay tuned.

Got a question or a comment for the Korean? Email away at askakorean@hotmail.com.

The Korean decided to change the look of the blog. No more stupid questions!

Hope you guys like it.

-EDIT 9/18/08 9:07 p.m. EST- After some suggestions, the Korean made the font a little larger and the background white.

Spring Break! Woo Hoo!

The next post will not be here for a little bit, because the Korean is at Cancun, Mexico, on the last spring break of his lifetime. The Korean is currently hanging out with an awesome crowd, like these guys.

All pictures are taken by the Korean himself, thanks to his new underwater camera kit, Christmas gift from the Korean Girlfriend.

-ADDENDUM: 3/23/07 10:33 a.m. - Each travel abroad confirms the Korean that America is the least racist country in the world. The Korean was only one "gonichiwa" told to him away from going North Korea on everyone.

Announcement: New Q&A System

Dear everyone who sent the Korean questions -- the Korean has not forgotten about you. But the Korean tries to answer all questions in the order received, and the delay is pretty long (right now around 2 months.) The delay is especially long because of the Korea-Japan series, and since there will be another series about language, it's going to be longer.

So when you do send a question that is time-sensitive, please indicate that you want to jump ahead of the line, and the Korean will consider it. Otherwise, expect roughly 2 months of delay. In any case, the Korean will notify you when your question has been answered. Thank you for sending in questions, and thank you for reading!

The Korean's Holiday Season

A quick recap of how the Korean has been doing:

1. Had a grand ol' time with a couple of the Korean's junior high school friends visiting from Korea.

2. Attended Holiday Bowl at San Diego, CA to watch the Korean's alma mater destroy Texas A&M by the score of 45-10.

3. Visited the Korean Cousin - Colorado at Colorado Springs, then traveled around Colorado, skied, checked out sulphur baths, and got snowed in and barely made it back to Los Angeles 16 hours after the Korean Family was supposed to be back.

And the Korean is finally back in New York, sitting through the first day of his last semester at the graduate school. Since the Korean Email Account has a lot of emails stashed away, the blog will be updated vigorously until they are all gone.

Welcome to Ask A Korean!

Today is Saturday, October 21, 2006. And today will be the birthday of this blog, Ask A Korean. This blog is inspired by Ask A Mexican (take a sample: http://www.ocweekly.com/columns/ask-a-mexican/ask-a-mexican/25980/) written by Gustavo Arrellano for the OC Weekly.

In other words, I plan to answer any question you might have about the Korean people, both Korean American and Koreans in the old country. And by "any question", I mean ANY QUESTION. Ever had a question about why Korean women are so terrible in driving? Ask me. Ever wondered why Korean men beat their wives? Ask me. Ever wondered why your Korean parents would not take the plastic cover off their mattresses? Just ask me. No judgments, no screenings, and certainly no holds barred.

Send your emails to AskAKorean@hotmail.com. Looking forward to your comments!
